UEFA’s EURO 2024, the European Football Championship, is being played in stadiums across Germany this summer. One of the venues is right here in our own home-away-from-home of Stuttgart, the MHP Arena (formerly Mercedes-Benz Stadium). Fan Zones are all throughout the city, with food and drink stands, outdoor tables, and TVs for watching the matches. It’s an exciting time in Germany!
Millions of fans have converged on Germany from all around Europe, to cheer on their team, and to do some sightseeing around the matches. Germany is doing an outstanding job hosting, balancing the huge job of security and logistics with also ensuring everyone can have a good time. The Fan Zone venues are family-friendly, with a variety of things to do, as well as a variety of foods and drinks. From trains to events, everything is very well organized, and there are tons of friendly and helpful workers and volunteers.
Stuttgart’s Tourist Center has been welcoming everyone with information about the football as well as general tourism. Stuttgart, and the surrounding area, is a lovely place to visit, with mountains, castles, vineyards, quaint villages, waterfalls, and of course beer gardens.
EURO 2024 is a huge international party, as fans support their teams with football jerseys, flags, painted faces, and songs. Even when you aren’t paying attention to the matches, you can tell when a country has won when the cars go by honking and waving their flags out the windows. It’s all quite fun, and nice to see all the national pride.
Last Sunday, Stuttgart hosted the Scotland versus Hungary match, and our Fan Zones were full of revelry. The Scotland fans are a real highlight, with their kilts, bagpipes, songs, and spirit. 🏴

Germany is providing security and organization as well as friendliness as hosts of this amazing event.
